This fragrant rice is a game changer for any rice bowl or nourish bowl. It adds a savoury flavour and spices up plain white rice.
While we might see Matcha most commonly show up as a latte, matcha tea naturally has a subtle savoury and earthy flavour so it pairs well in savoury dishes too like this Matcha rice bowl. Rice is an easy to digest carbohydrate that soaks up flavour like a sponge. Adding in some of our quality matcha powder and sesame oil to your rice gives it a subtle savoury and nutty flavour. It also adds the goodness of matcha such as its high polyphenol content it delivers to your body. These protective polyphenoles are natures way of keeping your mind and body working optimally and helping to reduce the process of inflammation happening in our bodies.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of uncooked rice
- 1.5 teaspoon of matcha
- 2 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1.5 cups water to cook rice. Increase this to 2 cups water if cooking on stovetop.
How to:
- Wash your rice thoroughly 2-3 times and dispose of the rice water.
- Add in your Matcha, sesame oil, salt and water and stir
- Cook your rice in rice cooker or stovetop.
To assemble, add your matcha rice to a bowl and top it with sautéed veggies, salmon, boiled egg, avocado and a creamy dressing like hummus or sriracha mayo.
