Make a simple rose syrup at home and swirl it into your matcha for a bit of sweetness, floral notes and goodness.
Rose has many health benefits and has been used for many hundreds to thousands of years in the treatment of skin problems, digestive issues and general well being. It has been linked to anti inflammatory properties, antioxidant properties and relaxation abilities.
Ingredients:
For the Rose syrup- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup rose water
- 2 Tbsp dried rose petals
- 1/2 cup sugar (using brown or raw sugar will affect the colour of the syrup)
- Optional: a few drops juice from canned or packed beetroot OR a drop of red food colouring
For the Matcha Latte
- 1.5 tsp ceremonial matcha powder
- 200mL warm water to whisk
- 200mL warm plant based milk
How to
- In a saucepan, bring all the ingredients in the rose syrup to boil.
- Allow this to simmer for 5-10minutes, or until the liquid has reduced to half the amount. Pour this into a jar to use as rose syrup
- Whisk the Matcha powder with warm water until completely dissolved.
- Heat up and froth your plant milk. Add this into a cup.
- Pour the matcha into the cup, swirl in a teaspoon of the rose syrup and add more if you prefer a sweeter taste.
